Bitok and Kendrick Post Victories at Tellez Invitational

Bitok qualified for the BIG EAST Championship with a personal-best 3:55.58 to lead the Orangemen. Junior Richard Polidore (Chino, Calif./Chino) posted ECAC-qualifying times in the 100-meters (10.45), 200-meters (21.56), and a BIG EAST qualifying mark in the long jump (23'2.50"). Also qualifying for BIG EAST post-season competition was senior Matt Troha (New Hartford, N.Y./New Hartford) in the high jump (6'6.00").
On the women's side, Kendrick narrowly missed provisionally qualifying for nationals in the discus with a personal-best 163'0.00". Classmate Valerie Boling (Denver, Colo./Washington) posted a BIG EAST and ECAC qualifying mark in the 200-meters, finishing seventh in 24.78. Boling also qualified for the BIG EAST Championship in the 100-meters with a 12.23.
Senior Aprelle Watkins (Virginia Beach, Va./Salem) triple-jumped her way into the BIG EAST and ECAC Championships with a 41'1.75". Junior Zelma Jackson (Aurora, Colo./Randolph/Barton County CC) placed third in the 3000-mete steeplechase in a BIG EAST qualifying-time of 11:19.85.
Both men's and women's teams will compete at the USTCA meet at Clemson on Saturday, April 6.
