SYRACUSE, NY - Syracuse women’s volleyball coach Jing Pu announced that Aila Dommestrup (Ottawa, Ontario/Sir Robert Borden) has signed a national letter of intent to play for the Orangewomen in the fall of 2002.
Dommestrup, a 6-0 rightside hitter, led Sir Robert Borden High School to the city championship and a third-place finish in Ontario during her senior year in 2002. Dommestrup was named tournament MVP of the McMaster University Seniors Girls Tournament after Sir Robert Borden captured the championship. She was named MVP of her team the past three seasons and was captain during her junior and senior years.
Dommestrup played for the Ottawa Kangaroos Volleyball Club from 1997-2002 and was named MVP of the team in 1999 and 2000. The rightside hitter also played on the Ontario Provincial team, which won the silver medal at the 2001 Canadian Summer Games, and helped the Eastern Ontario squad to a bronze medal in the 1997 Ontario Summer Games.
Dommestrup joins four other student-athletes who signed national letters of intent to play for Syracuse beginning with the 2002-03 school year.
