"When I was hired at Syracuse, my alma mater, it really was a dream come true," said Pasch. "Sometimes an opportunity like the one with the Cardinals comes along and it is too good to pass up.
"It was an honor to work with a future Hall of Fame member like Jim Boeheim," said Pasch, "and Paul Pasqualoni is as classy a person as they come.
"I will always appreciate the way the Syracuse fans treated me. Everyone was very supportive. My family and I made a lot of good friends in Central New York."
SU Director of Athletics Jake Crouthamel said a nationwide search to replace Pasch would begin immediately.
"We will use the same process as when we hired Dave, utilizing our excellent alumni network and the resources of our media rights partners, Learfield Communications and International Sports Properties," said Crouthamel. "I'm very happy for Dave. This is a tremendous career opportunity for him and we wish him continued success. Dave is the consummate professional. He earned the trust of our coaching staff, student-athletes and our fans, and he will be very successful in the NFL."
"We knew when Dave was hired that he was a major-market talent," said associate athletic director Michael Veley. "His talents have been recognized by several major sports broadcasters during his three years working with SU.
"I feel very confident that we will hire a quality replacement to be the next "Voice" of the Orange" said Veley. He added that the University and Syracuse Sports Properties would be evaluating additional responsibilities that the play-by-play announcer will handle as Pasch's replacement.
In addition to his work with SU, Pasch has been a reporter or broadcaster for major sporting events including the Master's golf tournament, Major League Baseball All-Star game, NFL Europe, Buffalo Bills pre-season games and college basketball on the Westwood One Radio Network.
A 1994 graduate of SU's College of Visual and Performing Arts, Pasch began his broadcasting career as sports director at the school's WAER-FM. From 1995-97 he served as anchor/reporter on WDFN radio in Detroit, where he was also the play-by-play announcer for the Detroit Vipers of the International Hockey League. He then spent two years at WMAQ-AM in Chicago, hosting a nightly sports talk show, as well as pre- and post-game shows for the National Hockey League's Chicago Blackhawks. Pasch also filled in on play-by-play duties for the Blackhawks' broadcasts and announced various events for Fox Sports Chicago.
Dave, his wife Hallie, and their daughters Lexi and Zuzu, will be relocating to the Phoenix area.
The SU Radio Network includes nearly 25 stations in New York, New Jersey and Vermont.
