
Orangewomen Host Syracuse Invitational Tournament This Weekend

The Orangewomen host the Syracuse Invitational Tournament this weekend at Manley Field House. SU faces Brown tonight at 7 p.m.
With a 6-1 record, Syracuse is off to its best start since 1991 when the team began 9-1. The Orangewomen’s lone loss this season came against Maryland in the JMU/Days Inn Classic. SU is a combined 61-12-2 against Brown, Buffalo and Colgate. The Orangewomen went 7-0 against regional opponents last year and are 39-4 during Coach Pu’s time at the helm.
Syracuse won its sixth match of the year against Binghamton on Wednesday, Sept. 11. Sophomore Morgan Jones (Malad, ID/Malad) posted a career-high 14 kills in the win. Junior Michaela Skelly (Simi Valley, CA/Royal) has quarterbacked the team this season with 194 assists and also leads the team with 13 service aces. Skelly needs 16 more assists to move into seventh place on SU’s career assists chart. Skelly currently has 589 career assists. Noreen Carroll ‘02 holds the record with 3,841 career assists.
Brown open its season tonight against the Orangewomen. Last year the Bears earned a share of the Ivy League regular season title with an 11-3 conference record. Colgate and Buffalo face off tonight at 5 p.m.
