Cross Country Sweeps Orange Classic

The Orangemen defeated Binghamton 19-40, and earned the win over Niagara 15-50. The women took a close victory over Binghamton, 27-28, and beat Niagara 16-43.
Junior John Bitok (Kitale, Kenya/Paul Boit) finished first in the men's race with a time of 24:52.46. Sophomore Tim Scarpinato (Croghan, N.Y./Beaver River) took second place with a time of 25:46.01. Five Orangemen finished in the top eight on the day.
Senior Aleccia Boland (London, Ont./Banting) ran a first-place time of 17:30.83. Senior Zelma Jackson (Aurora, Colo./A. Phillip Randolph) took fifth place with a time of 18:33.60.
The SU cross country team is back in action on October 4 when they travel to Gardner Webb.
