
Orangewomen Earn Academic Team Award For 2002-03

Head coach April Kater’s squad posted a 3.35 cumulative grade point average for the 2002-03 academic year. The 2002 Orangewomen boasted 20 members of the Athletic Director’s Honor Roll and 18 BIG EAST Academic All-Stars. SU is one of 264 programs across the nation in Divisions I, II, III to earn the accolade for 2002-03.
It is the fourth time that the team has been honored for its academic performance. The Orangewomen previously received the award in 2001, 1999 and 1998.
Syracuse’s men’s soccer team also earned the organization’s academic team award, making SU one of 46 schools across the country to have both its men’s and women’s team receive the honor. Head coach Dean Foti’s team recorded a cumulative grade point average of 3.06.
The awards will be presented at the 57th Aunnual NSCAA Convention on January 15, 2004 in Charlotte, N.C.
Teams must have at least a 3.0 cumulative grade point average to be eligible for recognition.
The Orangewomen posted a mark of 9-8-1 in 2003. It was the seventh time in eight seasons SU finished with a winning record.
