
Syracuse Invitational Underway

With the field events nearly complete, the Syracuse track & field squads have already posted three individual victories and a school record.
Sophomore Johvonne Hernandez won the women's weight throw with a mark of 59-4 and classmate Jenna Grimaldi took first in the high jump, clearing 5-7. Freshman Kristen Michalski followed Hernandez in the weight, throwing 52-10.25 for second place.
Freshmen Sarah Bentley and Jessyca Jackson both set a school record in the pole vault, clearing 10-11.75 for second and third place, respectively. Binghamton's Jaime Stitt won the competition and set a Manley Field House and Syracuse Invitational, clearing 13-5.75.
Senior Richard Polidore has led the way for the men so far, winning the long jump with a mark of 23-9. Fellow senior Tim Adrian won the shot put with a mark of 55-3.50, while Tim Biever took third with a throw of 47-3.75.
Allison Culley won the 55 meter dash with a time of 7.04 seconds. Right behind her was teammate Freshman Heather Stevens at 7.23 seconds. Polidore won the men's 55 meter dash with a time of 6.49 seconds and teammate Sean Burnett came in second place at 6.57 seconds. Junior John Bitok took first place in the mile run with 4:14.27 seconds and Freshman Chris Muldoon came in forth with 4:25.12 seconds.
Freshman Craig Stivala placed second in the men's pentathlon with a score of 2,503. Sophomore Tatiana Warren finished second for the women, scoring 2,842 points.
