Game 12: at #4 Massachusetts (11-1, 3-1 ECAC)
Saturday, April 16, 1:00 p.m. - Garber Field - 5,000
The last two games of the regular season have become extremely important for the No. 7-ranked Syracuse men's lacrosse team, in terms of playoff participation and seeding. The Orangemen have lost their last two games and are looking to finish the year strong, on the road, against two of the top teams in the ECAC. Syracuse (7-4) faces Massachusetts on Saturday, April 26, at 1 p.m. at Garber Field. The Orangemen play at Georgetown on May 3 and the game will be televised LIVE back in Syracuse on Time Warner Channel 13.
Massachusetts is riding a four-game winning streak, including an 11-8 victory against third-ranked Georgetown in its most recent outing on April 19. The Minutemen are 11-1 overall and 3-1 in the ECAC. They broke into the nation's top five for the first time this season after they beat the Hoyas, the country's last undefeated squad. UMass is ranked No. 4 in this week's STX/USILA Coaches Poll.
This will be the 29th meeting between Syracuse and Massachusetts in men's lacrosse. The Orangemen own a 24-4 advantage in the all-time series and have won the last 22 meetings, including last year's 18-10 victory at the Carrier Dome. The last time UMass beat Syracuse was May 8, 1981, in Amherst. The last time these two teams met at Garber Field (2001), SU escaped with a 9-8 victory.
