
Women's Lacrosse Semifinals Start Lacrosse Weekend In the Dome

SYRACUSE, NY -- A full weekend of NCAA lacrosse action in the Carrier Dome begins tonight with the women's semifinals. Loyola (17-1) plays Princeton (14-4) at 6:30 p.m. and Maryland (18-3) takes on Virginia (16-4) in the second game.
Princeton is the defending national champion and the owner of two NCAA titles overall. Loyola, seeded first in the tournament, will try to reach the finals for the first time since 1997. The Greyhounds have not won the coveted crown. Maryland has claimed the championship nine times, including seven straight times (1995-2001). Virginia captured the title in 1991 and 1993.
On Saturday, NCAA men's lacrosse quarterfinals feature Maryland (11-3) against Massachusetts (13-2) at 12:30 p.m. and Syracuse (9-5) versus Princeton (11-3) in the second contest.
The NCAA women's champion will be decided on Sunday with the opening draw scheduled for 1:00 p.m. in the Dome.
