Syracuse has a 4-0 record against Albany, and a 5-1 mark against Cleveland State. Last season, SU defeated Albany in four games. The last time Syracuse and Cleveland State met was in 1996, and the Orangewomen needed five games to earn the victory. This weekend will mark the first time Syracuse plays Buffalo and Youngstown.
Syracuse returns all but one player from its 19-12 season in 2002, and welcomes two new Orangewomen, Katie Allen and Erin McQuillin, to the lineup. SU is led by captains Christen Casey and Morgan Jones. Last season, Jones ranked second on the team with a .232 hitting percentage, and had the tenth-highest kills per game average in SU history with a 3.65 average. Casey, a senior, ranks eighth on SU’s career digs list with 827. Michaela Skelly, the team’s other senior, is sixth on the career assists ledger with 786.
The Orangewomen open the home portion of their schedule with the Big Orange Tournament, Sept. 5-6, in the Women’s Building.
