
Women's Soccer Team Posts Highest Team GPA for Fall 2003

In December of 2003, the National Soccer Coaches Association of America’s (NSCAA) awarded the Orangewomen its Academic Team Award for the 2002-03 school year. The 2002-03 squad accumulated a 3.35 team GPA. It was the fourth time the organization has honored the Orangewomen for their academic performance. SU previously received the award in 2001, 1999 and 1998.
The Orangewomen have had three student-athletes earn individual academic awards in the past. Current SU assistant coach Tracy Stalker was was an NSCAA Scholar-Athlete First Team selection in 2001. Former Orangewoman Erin O’Grady was named to the NSCAA Scholar-Athlete Third Team and the East Region Scholar-Athlete First Team in 1999 and Carrie Klotz became SU’s first women’s soccer student to earn CoSIDA All-District I honors when she named to the first team in 2002.
The 1998 Orangewomen achieved a 3.45 cumulative GPA, the second-highest out all NCAA Division I women’s soccer program and the sixth-highest among programs in all divisions.
Overall, Syracuse athletics teams achieved a 2.958 GPA for the Fall of 2003.
