
SU Volleyball Travels to Cornell for Mid-Week Match

SYRACUSE, N.Y. -- The Syracuse volleyball team (17-5, 2-1) travels to Cornell (10-5) on Tuesday, Oct. 19 for a 7:30 p.m. match against the Big Red. This is the final match of a five-match road stretch for the Orange. The Orange is 8-1 this season against teams from within the state of New York.
This will be the first meeting between the Orange and Big Red since the 2000 season, when SU defeated Cornell, 3-1. SU is on a 13-match win streak against Cornell that dates back to the 1988 season, and holds an overall series advantage of 23-8-1.
JING PU RECORDS 200TH WIN AS SU HEAD COACH
SU head coach Jing Pu recorded his 200th win at Syracuse as the Orange defeated Canisius, 3-2, on Wednesday night, Oct. 13. Pu has compiled a 200-122 record at Syracuse during his 10 season and a 339-174 career record.
JONES AND CONWAY RECORD 1,000TH CAREER KILL
Senior Morgan Jones and junior Kristen Conway both had their 1,000th career kills in the match against Canisius. Conway now has 1,005 and Jones as 1,002 for their careers.
COBBINA RECORDS FIRST CAREER DOUBLE-DOUBLE
Freshman Cheryl Cobbina recorded her first career double-double as she led the Orange for just the second time this season with 14 kills and recorded a career-high 18 digs. Cobbina also recorded her first career assist.
DUAN MOVES INTO TIE FOR 10TH ON SU’S ALL-TIME ACES LIST
Junior Kelly Duan recorded one ace in the match against Canisius to move her into a tie for 10th on SU’s all-time service aces list with 109.
