
Women's Soccer Closes Season at #8 Princeton

PRINCETON, N.J. – The Syracuse women’s soccer team closes out the 2004 season on Oct. 27 at No. 8 Princeton. The Tigers are highest ranked team the Orange has played since losing, 2-1, to then No. 2 Notre Dame on Sept. 19.
The Orange has had a tough second-half of the season and has lost six of the last eight games. The Tigers have won eight straight games and are coming off a 2-1 double overtime victory versus Harvard.
Princeton’s high-powered offense has scored 33 goals this season and is led by Esmeralda Negron with 10 goals and eight assists for 28 points. The Tigers’ defense has held its opponents to five goals in 13 games. The Orange is led by Shana Thomas with 10 points on five goals.
The Orange is 8-8-2 and looking to finish with a winning record for the eighth time in nine years. SU’s only losing season came in 2002, when the team finished 3-11-3.
