SYRACUSE, NY -- The second round of the Coaches vs. Cancer Classic gets underway tonight at 5:30 p.m. in the Carrier Dome when Bucknell plays Northern Colorado in the consolation game. The Syracuse region championship game features SU against Princeton with the winner advancing to the Coaches vs. Cancer semifinals in New York City next week.
The Orange opened the 2004-05 campaign with a convincing, 104-54 triumph against Northern Colorado last night. Princeton defeated Bucknell, 61-48, to set up tonight's matchups.
Syracuse benefitted from an early 24-0 advantage in its defeat of the Bears. Senior forward Hakim Warrick led the way with 19 points and 11 rebounds. Senior guard Josh Pace added 13 points, sophomore center Darryl Watkins had a career-best 12 points to go with five rebounds and four blocks, and junior guard Gerry McNamara and sophomore forward Demetris Nichols each added 11 points.
