Dragon and Joines Named Captains

SYRACUSE, N.Y. – Seniors Caitlyn Dragon (Jackson, N.Y./Jackson) and Monica Joines (White Hall, Md./North Hartford) were recently named captains of the 2005 women’s lacrosse team.
Dragon, a senior attacker, has recorded seven goals in her career. She appeared in nine games, starting in one during the 2004 season, and had a season-high two goals against Boston College. She was named to the Athletic Director’s Honor Roll in the spring, and was selected a BIG EAST Academic All-Star.
Joines, a senior, was named to the 2004-05 U.S. Women’s Developmental Team. Last season, she was an IWLCA Division I North Region first-team All-American and First-team All-BIG-EAST selection after recording 48 points on 40 goals and eight assists. She had a career-high with five goals against California and Denver, and tallied hat tricks versus Maryland, Massachusetts, Colgate, Rutgers, Boston College and Loyola. Joines was selected to the IWLCA Division I Academic Honor Roll and named a BIG EAST Academic All-Star.
