SYRACUSE, N.Y. – Men's Basketball junior forward Hakim Warrick is listed as one of 20 finalists for the annual Naismith Men's Basketball Player of the Year Award. This list of 20 has been pared down from 30 semi-finalists.
The Naismith Awards are presented each year to the season's outstanding men's and women's college basketball player. The finalists are selected by ballot by the Naismith Board of Selectors, a group of the country's leading basketball coaches, journalists and administrators that began the selection process earlier this year.
Warrick leads the Orangemen with 11 double-doubles and 57 dunks this season. Warrick is averaging 19.5 points and 8.9 rebounds per game and scored a career-high 30 points against Rhode Island in November.
The 36th annual Naismith Awards will be presented in Atlanta on Friday, April 9, 2004. The award was founded by the Atlanta Tipoff Club to recognize excellence in basketball and the achievements of student-athletes.
The Orangemen will play at Georgetown on Sat., February 21 at noon, and will return to the Carrier Dome for a 7:00 p.m. game against Villanova on Mon., February 23.
