The Orangewomen (2-6, 1-1 BIG EAST) are looking to snap a two-match losing skid after losses last weekend to Army and Cornell. Freshman Ashley Lipton posted the only singles win for the SU squad against the Black Knights, defeating Megan Noble, 6-0, 6-0, at No. 2. Against Cornell, senior Trine Lise Juliussen defeated Akane Kokubo, 1-6, 6-4, 10-4, at No. 1 singles. However, the Orange lost to the Big Red, 6-1.
In last year's match between Yale and SU, the Orangewomen were shut out, 7-0. Yale's Stephanie White and Ashley Martin defeated Jessica Schlosser and Wei-Ming Leong in their respective singles matches. Along with White and Martin, Reshmi Srinath, Julliette Vartikar and Karlyn Martin are the returning players for the Yale squad.
Syracuse was victorious in last year's match against the Huskies, 6-1. Juliussen defeated UConn's Jennifer LoRusso at No. 3 singles, 6-3, 7-5. In addition to LoRusso, Barbara Schumsky and Whitney Simcik return from last year's UConn squad.
The Yale match begins at 11:30 a.m. on Saturday in New Haven, Conn., and the Connecticut match begins at 11:00 a.m. on Sunday in Storrs.
