
Warrick, McNamara Earn All-BIG EAST Honors

Warrick, who is a candidate for the Wooden, Naismith and Rupp awards that each recognize the top college basketball player in the Division I ranks, was a third-team All-BIG EAST pick a year ago. He is Syracuse's top scorer and rebounder, averaging 19.9 points and 9.0 rebounds an outing.
McNamara tabbed for the BIG EAST's all-rookie team a year ago. He heads into this week's BIG EAST Tournament averaging 16.3 points and 3.9 assists an outing. He is the conference's career leader in free throw percentage (185-of-206, .898).
The All-BIG EAST First Team also included Craig Smith (Boston College), Ben Gordon (Connecticut), Emeka Okafor (Connecticut), Ryan Gomes (Providence), Andre Barrett (Seton Hall) and Bryant Matthews (Virginia Tech).
Joining McNamara on the All-BIG EAST Second Team were Darius Rice (Miami), Chris Thomas (Notre Dame), Jaron Brown (Pittsburgh), and Carl Krauser (Pittsburgh). The Third Team was comprised of Gerald Riley (Georgetown), Chris Taft (Pittsburgh), Herve Lamizana (Rutgers), Allan Ray (Villanova) and Curtis Sumpter (Villanova). Honorable mention recognition went to Taliek Brown (Connecticut), Torin Francis (Notre Dame), Julius Page (Pittsburgh) and Kelly Whitney (Seton Hall).
The BIG EAST All-Rookie Team featured Jared Dudley (Boston College), Josh Boone (Connecticut), Charlie Villanueva (Connecticut), Guillermo Diaz (Miami), Chris Taft (Pittsburgh), Quincy Douby (Rutgers) and Mike Nardi (Villanova).
Syracuse, the fourth seed in the BIG EAST Tournament, received a first-round bye. The Orange will play the winner of Wednesday's Boston College vs. Georgetown game on Thursday at 2:00 p.m.
This year's event is the conference's 25th postseason tournament.
