Hernandez' best throw of the season, 19.65m, came at last weekend's ECAC Championship. She has won the weight throw at all five meets she has competed in this season, including winning her second consecutive BIG EAST championship.
The only Orangewoman to earn All-America status in the weight throw is Kim Johnson who earned the distinction in 1996. Three Orangewomen have earned All-America honors at the indoor meet since Johnson, including Opal Jones, who was an All-American in the 60-meter hurdles in 2002. Current SU assistant coach Cheree' Hicks was a 1999 and 2000 All-American in the shot put at the indoor meet.
Hernandez will try to become SU's first All-American in two years when she competes in the weight throw at the NCAA Championship, March 12-13, in Fayetteville, Ark.
