
Orangewomen Tennis Team Hosts No. 47 Boston College and St. John's

Two weeks ago, Syracuse defeated local rival Binghamton, 6-1, and conference foe Seton Hall, 4-3. In the second match, senior Trine Lise Juliussen clinched the victory with a three-set triumph at No. 1 singles. Juliussen won all four of the matches she competed in against the Bearcats and Pirates, giving her victories in 12 of her last 16 matches, including seven of her last eight matches at No. 1 singles.
The nationally-ranked Eagles are soaring after three consecutive wins against Ivy League opponents, including a 5-2 victory against No. 22 Harvard on March 20. BC will by trying for its first BIG EAST win of the season against the Orangewomen. Boston College has lost its only two conference matches of the year, 4-3 to Virginia Tech and 5-1 to Notre Dame. Last season, the Eagles and Orange met twice, including a showdown in the quarterfinals of the BIG EAST Tournament. In the first meeting, BC won, 5-2. Juliussen earned one of SU's points with a 3-6, 6-4, 6-3 win against Morgan Landes at No. 4 singles. Juliussen won both of her matches in the post-season meeting, including a 6-3, 6-1 defeat of Landes at No. 4. She paired with sophomore Wei-Ming Leong at No. 3 doubles to defeat Emily Yeomans and Anisha Fernando, 8-4.
Syracuse shut out St. John's in the teams' only meeting last season, 7-0, at West Point, N.Y. Juliussen earned a 6-2, 6-3 win against Tessa Woodruff at No. 4 singles, and paired with Leong to win at No. 3 doubles, 8-1, against Vera Efstathiou and Jennifer Liantonio. Senior Jessica Schlosser also earned a singles win against the Red Storm, 6-0, 6-2, against Liantonio at No. 6.
The Orangewomen play Boston College on Saturday at noon and take on St. John's on Sunday at noon. Admission to all SU women's tennis matches is free.
