Cobbina to Join Orange Volleyball in 2004

SYRACUSE, N.Y.- Syracuse University head volleyball coach Jing Pu announced today that Cheryl Cobbina has signed a National Letter of Intent to attend Syracuse and compete for the Orangewomen starting in the 2004 season.
Cobbina, a native of Scarborough, Ontario, has played four seasons for Francis Libermann CHS as a middle and outside hitter. As a two-time team captain, Cobbina helped lead Francis Libermann to the TDCAA Championship for the past four years. As a senior, she helped her team to a fourth-place finish in the OFSAA Championship. In 2003, Cobbina received the OVA Award of Excellence. Among her other accomplishments, Cobbina was honored as the TDCAA Championship MVP and was selected as the MVP for the senior girls team as a sophomore. In addition, Cobbina was a five year member of the Scarborough Falcons Volleyball Club. She also participated in basketball as well as the 200-meter dash and long jump for track and field.
Cobbina joins Ellen Bruegge, Jen Malcom, Joscie Kaup, and April Quigley who will be competing for the Orangewomen in the fall.
