The Orangemen dropped to No. 6 in this week's Geico/STX Coaches poll following a 14-10 loss to Rutgers last Saturday. It is the lowest SU has been ranked all season and the lowest since a sixth-place finish in the final 2003 STX/USILA Coaches Poll. The Orangemen had their modest five-game winning streak snapped by the Scarlet Knights and now find themselves with an 8-2 record.
Albany comes into this contest with an 8-3 record and a 4-1 mark in the America East Conference. The Great Danes have won four-straight games, including a 21-13 victory at Hartford on Wednesday, April 21. Merrick Thomson, the team's leading scorer set a school record against the Hawks with eight goals. Albany is not ranked, but receiving votes in both the coaches and media polls.
This will be the first-ever meeting between Syracuse and Albany in men’s lacrosse.
