
Allen and Heidt Named Athletic Communications Interns at SU

Syracuse University named Danah Allen and Matthew Heidt athletic communications interns for the 2004-05 academic year. At Syracuse, Allen will serve as the primary contact for volleyball, crew, tennis, and women's lacrosse. She will also assist with men's basketball. Heidt will serve as the primary contact for women's soccer, rowing and cross country and track and field. He will assist with football and men's lacrosse.
Prior to her appointment at Syracuse, Allen worked as a media relations staff assistant at Indiana University. At Indiana, Allen served as the primary contact for field hockey, women's golf, women's tennis and rowing. She was responsible for all publications and web site maintenance for those four sports.
Allen started as a media relations intern with the Tampa Bay Mutiny of the MLS in the summer of 2001. Her duties included preparing game notes, serving as a link between the media and players, and writing feature stories. Allen also served as a media relations student intern at Auburn in 2003. She earned her bachelor's degree in mass communication from Auburn University in May 2003.
Heidt just completed a graduate assistant position in the athletic communications department at Canisius College. He served as the secondary contact for swimming and diving, golf and synchronized swimming. While at Canisius, Heidt was responsible for updating the athletics web site, compiling statistics and the producing media guides and game programs.
Since June 2003, Heidt has also served as a customer service representative for the Buffalo Bills. His duties there include responding to customer concerns, filling customer ticket requests, and updating information to season ticket holders. Heidt earned his bachelor's degree in public relations from SUNY Oswego in May 2002 and is working towards his master's degree in sport administration from Canisius.
