
Syracuse Hosts WVU In Dome Matinee

Syracuse, NY -- #7 Syracuse (18-1, 5-0) hosts West Virginia (11-4, 1-3) in a BIG EAST Conference matchup at the Carrier Dome on Saturday, January 22, at 2:00 p.m. The Orange bring a 14-game Dome winning streak into the contest. SU has also won 11 in a row this season.
Senior forward Hakim Warrick (www.suathletics.com/hakim) and junior guard Gerry McNamara (www.suathletics.com/gerry) are both coming off great showings against Georgetown on Tuesday. Warrick posted his ninth double-double of the campaign with 25 points and 11 rebounds. McNamara become SU's career leader in three-point baskets by passing the standard of 249 established by Preston Shumpert.
West Virginia opened the campaign with 10 consecutive wins, including victories at LSU and North Carolina State, and a home triumph versus George Washington. The Mountaineers are led by senior forward Tryone Sally, who is averaging 11.6 points per game.
The game will be broadcast by the Syracuse ISP Sports Network with Matt Park on the call and former SU standout Gene Waldron offering analysis. The broadcast originates from WAQX-FM (95.7) and is also available via the internet at www.suathletics.com.
The SU-WVU contest will also be televised by ESPN Regional. SU graduate Dave Ryan and Bob Valvano will anchor the telecast. It will be shown locally by Time Warner 26.
