SYRACUSE, N.Y., Oct. 24, 2005 – Senior Kelly Duan was named to the BIG EAST Honor Roll for her performances in SU’s three wins over the weekend. For the week, she averaged 4.50 kills, 1.83 digs, and 0.92 blocks per game while hitting at a .297 clip.
In a sweep of Central Connecticut on Friday night, Duan led the team with 11 kills. On Saturday, she and senior Kristen Conway led the offense with 20 kills a piece in a 3-1 win at UConn. Finally, in a 3-2 win against St. John’s on Sunday, Duan paved the way again with her team-high 23 kills.
Duan was also named this week’s Scholar-Athlete of the Week at SU.
SU stands in third place following the weekend, trailing No. 6 Louisville and No. 9 Notre Dame, which are both undefeated in conference play.
The Orange, which is riding a season-long seven-match winning streak, hosts three matches this weekend. On Friday, it hosts Rutgers at 7:00 p.m. in the Women’s Building. On Saturday, Fordham comes to Manley Field House for a 2:00 p.m. tilt. On Sunday, SU faces Villanova, who is one win behind the Orange in the standings, in the Women’s Building at 2:00 p.m.
