SYRACUSE, N.Y. -- Coach Jim Boeheim's Syracuse Orange (4-2) play host to Bobby Gonzalez's Manhattan Jaspers (0-2) on Wednesday, Nov. 30, at 7 p.m. It will be the 27th meeting between these two programs.
The game will not be televised, but can be heard through the Syracuse ISP Radio Network (WAQX-95.7 FM and WNSS-1260 AM) in Syracuse. The broadcast, led by play-by-play announcer Matt Park and color analyst Gene Waldron, can also be listened to through the internet right here at www.suathletics.com
Syracuse, which has already faced three teams that qualified for the 2005 NCAA Tournament (81-46 win vs. Texas Tech, 75-70 loss to Florida, 74-69 loss to Bucknell), received votes in the latest installment of the Associated Press poll. The Orange ranked No. 24 in this week's ESPN/USA Today Coaches Poll.
SU prepares for its game against Manhattan following a 96-77 victory against Siena on Nov. 25. Junior forward Demetris Nichols leads the team in scoring with 15.0 points per game. Senior guard Gerry McNamara is second with 14.5 ppg and a team-best 39 assists. Junior forward Terrence Roberts is the squad's top rebounder with 8.8 an outing.
The Jaspers are 0-2 on the season with losses to Seton Hall (66-52) and George Mason (72-66). Sophomore CJ Anderson leads Manhattan in scoring (15.5 ppg) and rebounding (7.0 rpg) so far this season. Sophomore guard Jeff Xavier and sophomore center Arturo Dubois are both averaging nine points per game.
The series record between these two programs lies in Syracuse's favor, 19-7. The Orange is 10-1 at home against Manhattan all-time. The last time these two teams met was Dec. 17, 2003 at the Carrier Dome, where SU squeaked out a 69-63 victory.
