
Orange Faces Rutgers In BIG EAST Quarterfinals

NEW YORK, NY -- Syracuse (24-6) opens play in the BIG EAST Conference Tournament when it squares off with Rutgers (10-18) on Thursday night at 9:00 p.m. in Madison Square Garden. Rutgers advanced to the quarterfinal by upsetting Notre Dame in first-round play on Wednesday night.
The Orange earned a first-round bye by finishing third in the regular season. SU defeated Rutgers on January 24, 86-84. Syracuse trailed by 20 in the first half and were down 18 at the intermission before mounting the greatest comeback in Jim Boeheim's 29-year tenure as head coach. Senior Hakim Warrick and junior Gerry McNamara each tallied 21 points in the victory for the 'Cuse.
The game will be televised by ESPN2 with Dan Shulman and Len Elmore calling the action. The radio broadcast on the Syracuse ISP Sports Network features Matt Park and Gene Waldron.
