
SU Hoop Standout Eddie Moss Dies

SYRACUSE, NY -- Eddie Moss, a four-year letter winner with the Syracuse men's basketball team from the 1977-78 through the 1980-81 campaigns, passed away last weekend in Durham, N.C. He died after a lengthy illness.
Moss was a backcourt mainstay for the Orange and coach Jim Boeheim. He started all 30 games his junior year and 34 contests as a senior. He completed his career with 681 points, 539 assists and 232 steals. He still ranks fifth in career assists and third in career steals at SU.
Moss played on three clubs that earned NCAA Tournament berths. The Orange won the BIG EAST Conference crown in 1979-80 and claimed the league's tournament title in 1980-81. SU advanced to the NIT Championship game in Moss' senior campaign.
He was a second-round pick in the 1981 NBA draft by the Dallas Mavericks. He played professionally for two teams in the Continental Basketball Association.
Moss was the publisher and editor of The Pride of Durham Newspaper, the latest of four newspapers he published.
He is survived by his wife, Kelly Moss, and sons Edwin M. Moss II and Everett Moss. Funeral services are scheduled for Thursday, April 7, at 2:00 p.m. at the Scarborough & Hargett Funeral Home Chapel in Durham, N.C.
