Lisnere to Join Orange in 2005-06

SYRACUSE, N.Y. – Syracuse head women’s basketball coach Keith Cieplicki has announced that Lina Lisnere of Riga, Latvia has committed to play for the Orange beginning with the 2005-06 season.
Lisnere, a 6-4 post player, is currently attending Riga State Gymnasium No. 1. She has played for the Ridzene club of the Latvian Youth League where she averaged 15 points, eight rebounds and shot 50 percent en route to league MVP honors. Lisnere was also named Ridzene’s top post player last season. She has also participated on the Latvian Junior National Team.
“Lina is a very versatile player with a lot of different skills,” Cieplicki said. “She is a good athlete that will certainly add to our overall depth.”
Lisnere is the sixth player to commit to the Orange for next season. She joins Jenny Eckhart (Libertyville, Ill.), Cintia Johnson (Syracuse, N.Y.), Keri Laimbeer (Orchard Lake, Mich.), Ashley McMillen (Penfield, N.Y.) and Brittany Smith (Milwaukee, Wisc.) as a member of SU’s 2005-06 recruiting class.
