ITHACA, N.Y. – The Syracuse track and field team took part in the Upstate Challenge hosted by Cornell on Saturday, Jan. 21. Keisha Townsend won the 60m Hurdles while Meghan Rowcliffe placed second in the 3000m Run to help the women to a third place finish. Jake Palas took the title in the men's heptathlon with 4634 points as the men placed fourth.
Townsend won the 60m Hurdles title with a 9.08 time. Rowcliffe finished the 3000m with a time of 10:40.98.
Chris McDonald (9:03.00) and Benjamon Torvik (9:03.04) finished second and third in the 3000m Run, respectively,
For the women, Jillian Drouin finished second in the heptathlon with 3359 points. Candace Ince finished third in the 800m Run with a time of 2:18.96, while Amanda Hicks placed fourth in the Mile Run with a time of 5:16.92. Kyra James placed third in the weight throw with a toss of 14.96m.
On the men’s side, Marcus Vaughn finished third in the 60m Hurdles at 8.44. Jon Reed and Dominic Hunter placed fourth and fifth in the pole vault, respectively. Reed cleared 4.20m while Hunter recorded a mark of 4.05m.
SU is back in action on Saturday, Jan. 28, when it heads back to State College, Pa. to compete in the Penn State Invitational.
