SYRACUSE, N.Y. – Thirty members of the Syracuse men’s and women’s cross country and track & field teams helped stamp out kidney disease on Sunday, October 8, 2006 at the National Kidney Foundation of Central New York Kidney Walk at Longbranch Park. The event raised close to $30,000 while getting the word out about the importance of early detection for kidney disease.
The team enthusiastically started off the walk with a series of stretching exercises that inspired more than 400 walk participants. Along with the walk chairman, the team members led off the walkers on a three mile route through Longbranch Park. Blue skies and plenty of sunshine gave way to a perfect day for a walk in the park.
The National Kidney Foundation of CNY is dedicated to the prevention of kidney and urinary tract disease, improving the health and well-being of patients and families affected by these diseases and increasing the availability of all organs for transplantation.
