BIG EAST All-Access Video Content To Hit High Gear

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – The BIG EAST Conference will be providing its fans of men’s and women’s basketball, men’s and women’s soccer and field hockey with unprecedented streaming video content in the coming days and weeks. Fans should visit www.bigeast.tv for a complete list of upcoming events that will be shown free on BIG EAST All-Access – the league’s newly created broadband channel for streaming audio and video.
MEN AND WOMEN’S BASKETBALL MEDIA DAYS: OCT. 25-26
It all starts when BIG EAST All-Access will have video of interviews with players and coaches as they discuss the upcoming 2006-07 season from the men’s and women’s basketball media days.
Men’s media day will take place on Oct. 25 from Madison Square Garden, while the women’s festivities will take place on Oct. 26 at ESPN Zone in New York City. Fans can access video from 4:00 p.m. – 4:45 p.m. ET on both days. It will also be available in an archived version shortly thereafter.
BIG EAST Media Day Central, which can be found by clicking the banner graphic on www.bigeast.org, has full BIG EAST men’s and women’s basketball media day coverage, including previews, rosters and schedules for each team. The preseason coaches’ poll, news releases and media guides will be also be unveiled at 9:30 a.m. ET on each respective media day - along with additional quotes and features taken from the players and coaches on site.
MEN’S AND WOMEN’S SOCCER CHAMPIONSHIPS: NOV. 3 & 5
For the first time in conference history, both the BIG EAST men’s and women’s soccer championship title games can be seen live online at www.bigeast.tv. Both games will take place on Nov. 5, with the men’s game set to start at Noon ET and the women’s to begin at 2:00 p.m. ET. The broadcast of both games will also be cleared on regional sports television networks in several BIG EAST markets and beyond.
In addition, CSTV’s broadcast of the semifinals of the BIG EAST Men’s Soccer Championship will be simulcast live on the league’s Web site on Nov. 3 at 3:00 p.m. and 5:30 p.m. ET.
The BIG EAST Women’s Soccer Championship First Round contest between No. 5 American Division seed Pittsburgh and No. 4 National Division seed Louisville on Oct. 26 will be shown live on BIG EAST All-Access beginning at 7:00 pm. ET.
The Conference office is currently looking into other first round and quarterfinal men’s and women’s soccer contests from campus sites that can be streamed for free on the BIG EAST Web site.
Live play-by-play commentary will be available for all of the aforementioned men’s and women’s soccer contests.
FIELD HOCKEY CHAMPIONSHIP: NOV. 4-5
Each of the three BIG EAST Field Hockey Championship contests will be streamed live on BIG EAST All-Access.
The two semifinal contests, which will include four teams that are currently nationally ranked – Connecticut, Louisville, Providence and Villanova – are slated to take place on Nov. 4 at 11:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m. ET from Trager Stadium in Louisville, Ky. The finals will take place on Nov. 5 at Noon ET.
The BIG EAST is the largest and most diverse Division I conference in the country. It was formed in 1979 and represents the athletic interests of 16 member institutions including the University of Cincinnati, University of Connecticut, DePaul University, Georgetown University, University of Louisville, Marquette University, University of Notre Dame, University of Pittsburgh, Providence College, Rutgers University, St. John’s University, Seton Hall University, University of South Florida, Syracuse University, Villanova University and West Virginia University.
