Women’s Basketball Hosts Athletes in Action in Final Exhibition

Syracuse, N.Y. – The Syracuse University women’s basketball team will host the Athletes in Action on Wednesday, November 8 at 7 p.m. in Manley Field House. The game is SU’s final preseason game before the Orange begins its regular season at Penn State on November 12.
Syracuse is coming off a 68-66 overtime loss versus the Team adidas/Premier Players on November 3. The Orange, not playing at full strength due to a number of injuries finished the contest 24-of-72 (.333) from the field. SU’s defense forced 24 turnovers, including 11 steals. Sophomore guard Cintia Johnson had an impressive game, recording four of those steals in 35 minutes of action.
Every Orange player saw double-digit minutes of playing time, with five of the players participating in more than 30 minutes of contest. Junior forward Vaida Sipaviciute finished with 19 points, nine rebounds and seven blocks. Junior forward Fantasia Goodwin also had an impressive start to the season, leading the team with 43 minutes, 21 points and 13 rebounds. She also made 8-of-9 (.889) free throws.
Athletes in Actions are coming off a hard loss against Texas Tech, where they were defeated 88-48 on November 5. In that game, Athletes in Action had 28 rebounds and went 15-of-46 (.326) from the field. Athletes in Action play at Boston College on tonight before facing the Orange on Wednesday.
Admission for Wednesday night’s game is free and marks the last contest for the Orange in Manley Field House this season, before regular season play begins in the Carrier Dome.
