Hernandez To Compete At NCAAs Today

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. - Senior Johvonne Hernandez (Port Isabel, Texas) will compete in the weight throw at the 2006 NCAA Indoor Track and Field Championships today. The event is slated to start at 12:00 p.m. at the Walker Pavilion.
Hernandez qualified with a mark of 19.78m which she obtained at the Syracuse Invitational. At the BIG EAST Championship, she was named the female Most Outstanding Field Performer as she swept the shot put and weight throw events. At the ECAC Championship, Hernandez won the weight throw again and placed second in the shot put.
Hernandez had the 17th best mark in the country this past season. The following are the top performances from this year's indoor season around the nation:
