Freshman Duo Named To BIG EAST Honor Roll

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Syracuse rookies Kathryn Rowan (Delmar, N.Y.) and Megan Mosenson (Malvern, Pa.) were both named to the conference’s weekly honor roll, announced last night. Rowan led the Orange in points last week with eight and Mosenson led the team with eight ground balls while adding three goals.
This is Rowan’s second appearance on the BIG EAST Honor Roll. She was also named to the list on Feb. 27. This is Mosenson’s first selection to the honor roll.
In Syracuse’s 21-2 win against Binghamton on March 7, Rowan came off the bench and netted a hat trick and an assist. The three-goal performance was her second hat trick of the season. She also added four ground balls and a pair of caused turnovers. Mosenson notched a pair of free-position goals against the Bearcats while compiling three ground balls, two draw controls, and two caused turnovers.
Against Georgetown, Rowan recorded her third hat trick of 2006 as she scored four of SU’s seven goals in the game and picked up three ground balls. Mosenson secured a career-high five ground balls against the Hoyas while adding a goal, a draw control, and a caused turnover.
Rowan currently leads the Orange with 16 points with a team-best 15 goals. Mosenson is third on the team with 11 points on nine goals and two assists. She leads Syracuse with 14 ground balls and 11 draw controls. Mosenson has also added six caused turnovers.
The Orange is back in action on Wednesday, March 15, when it hosts Massachusetts at 7:00 p.m. at the Carrier Dome.
