PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Orange senior Cassie Morales (Whittier, Calif.) was named to the five-player BIG EAST Softball Honor Roll on Monday, April 10. Morales helped the Orange to four wins in five games last week, including a sweep a nationally-ranked DePaul on Sunday, April 9.
Morales paced the Orange with a .529 batting average (9-17) for the week. She led the SU offense with five runs batted in and was tied for the team lead in runs scored (5).
Morales hit .500 (7-14) in BIG EAST doubleheaders versus Notre Dame and DePaul. She belted a pair of doubles in the four games to move into a tie with Andrea Loman of Notre Dame for second on the conference’s career doubles list (22). She also hit a home run in SU’s 8-1, game-two victory against DePaul. It was her personal-best seventh long ball of the season and moved her into a tie for seventh on the Orange’s single-season homers chart.
Morales had at least one hit in every game and went 3-for-4 with two runs batted in the second game versus Notre Dame on April 8.
