PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Junior Gaddy Fortune (Long Branch, N.J.) was named to the BIG EAST Conference weekly Honor Roll, announced today by the conference office. She scored three goals in the Orange’s 11-10 loss at Notre Dame on April 29. It was her team-leading ninth hat trick of the season.
Fortune’s three goals gives her 46 for the season and is just six shy of Leigh-Ann Zimmer’s single-season record of 52 goals in 2004. She just passed Lauren Brady who had scored 44 goals in 2000. Also, Fortune’s 49 points is tied for ninth in a single season with Zimmer, who had the same amount in 2001.
Fortune has teamed up with freshman Kathryn Rowan (Delmar, N.Y.) and the two have combined for 89 goals. That number is just three shy of the 92 goals that Zimmer and Monica Joines scored in 2004, which is the single-season record.
Syracuse (9-6, 2-3) hosts No. 18 Penn on Sunday, May 7 at 1:00 p.m. on Senior Day at the Carrier Dome.
