The Salvation Army of the Syracuse Area visited Director of Athletics Dr. Daryl Gross and the Orange athletics department today to say "Thank You," for the department's support of the Salvation Army. Executive Director Linda Wright and members of The Salvation Army staff showed their appreciation with two boxes of doughnuts, a Salvation Army tradition. The first "Famous Doughnuts" were made by a Salvation Army Lassie on the front lines of World War II. Putting the needs of hungry American solderies before her own safety, the Lassie used the few ingredients that were available in order to provide comfort food to our soldiers. Today, The Salvation Army still battles against the unfairness of pverty, hopelessness, homelessness and hunger. Watch WSYR-TV News at 5:00 p.m. tonight for a more in-depth look at the program.
