Hernandez recorded a mark of 15.34m in the finals on Saturday after she threw for 16.12m in the prelims. She also competed in the discus and hammer but did not advance to the finals. Hernandez threw the hammer 57.78m and the discus 47.93m in the prelims.
Mark was one spot away from qualifying for the triple jump finals. She placed 13th in the prelims with a leap of 12.79m. Drouin finished the heptathlon with 4,923 points to finish in 24th place.
The three student-athletes that the Orange sent to the outdoor championship were the most since 1999 when SU had five student-athletes at the meet. The last time Syracuse sent three women to the national championships was also in 1999. Joining Hicks that season were Melanie Scherenzel and Deniece Bell.
