Syracuse, N.Y.- Syracuse was honored with an ITA All-Academic Team award in women's tennis for the third time in the program's history. The Orange also received the award in 2004 and 1998. Teams qualify for the honor with a cumulative grade point average of 3.20 or above. Senior Carolina Huignard, junior Victoria Vaynberg, and Wei-Ming Leong, who graduated in May, were all chosen as ITA All-American Scholar-Athletes.
To earn ITA Scholar-Athlete status a player must be a varsity letter winner, have a grade point average of at least 3.50 for the current academic year, and have been enrolled at their present school for at least 2 semesters (including freshman thorough senior year). Huignard, Vaynberg, and Leong were all BIG EAST Academic All-Stars and members of the Syracuse Athletic Director's Honor Roll in 2005-06.
