Nichols Picked to BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Senior Demetris Nichols was named to the BIG EAST Men’s Basketball Weekly Honor Roll for the week ending on Jan. 14. Nichols keyed SU’s win against Villanova on Saturday at the Carrier Dome with 23 points.
Nichols was 8-of-12 from the field against the Wildcats including five three’s. With the performance, he became the 48th player in SU basketball history to reach 1,000 career points. He currently has 1,021. The Boston, Mass product also netted 12 points in SU’s win at Rutgers on Jan. 10.
Nichols leads the conference in scoring at 18.9 points per outing and he has connected on 47.1 percent of his 3-point attempts this season (48-102). His current 3-point shooting clip is on pace to rank second in school history.
This week’s selection marks the fifth time in 2006-07 Nichols has appeared on the honor roll. He was named BIG EAST Player of the Week on Dec. 18.
Nichols and the Orange entertain Cincinnati on Wednesday, Jan. 17 at 7:00 p.m. in the Carrier Dome.
