Gerlt Named to U.S. U-19 Lacrosse Athletic Training Staff

BALTIMORE, Md. – Syracuse men’s lacrosse athletic trainer Troy Gerlt has been selected as one of two trainers for the 2008 U.S. U-19 men’s lacrosse team that will compete in the International Lacrosse Federation U-19 World Championship in British Columbia, Canada. Gerlt will be joined on the training staff by Chris Kury and the team will coached by former Rutgers All-American and current Bridgewater-Raritan (N.J.) High School coach Chuck Apel.
It isn’t Gerlt’s first experience with US Lacrosse. Two years ago, he served as a member of the athletic training staff during national team tryouts at UMBC and in 2005 he presented on the topic of “Catastrophic Injury Preparedness” at the 2005 US Lacrosse National Convention in Philadelphia.
In addition to his position as head men’s lacrosse trainer, Gerlt, now in his fifth year with the Orange, also assists with football.
Gerlt graduated from the University of Missouri – Columbia in 1991 and received his master’s degree in physical education from Syracuse in 1994.
