SYRACUSE, NY -- Blue skies and temperatures in the 70's made a perfect backdrop for the "Walk With The 'Cuse" event on Sunday. The Syracuse University men's and women's basketball teams were joined by close to 240 others who walked from Manley Field House to the campus quad and back to raise money for Coaches vs. Cancer.
The "Walk" began at 12 noon and participants, bolstered by the Syracuse Cheerleaders, Dance Team and Pep Band, had near-perfect weather conditions. The American Cancer Society, along with Fitness Forum, TK99 and Jreck Subs supplied t-shirts and bottled water to those who walked.
The First Annual "Walk With the 'Cuse" is one of many initiatives from Coaches vs. Cancer, a charity close to the heart of SU coach Jim Boeheim. One of the leading fundraisers for Coaches vs. Cancer, Boeheim lost both of his parents to cancer. He was joined on the walk by his wife, Juli, and kids Jimmy, Jamie and Jack.
Following the "Walk," the men's team conducted an open scrimmage.
