The Syracuse women's lacrosse squad will take on James Madison as part of the Fall Lacrosse Classic of Northern Virginia on Sunday. Game time is set for Noon. The contest if part of a doubleheader that also includes a matchup between the Notre Dame and Georgetown men's teams. The games will be played at Centreville High School in Clifton, Va.
The Orange, under the direction of first-year head coach Gary Gait, opened its fall schedule last weekend at Duke. The remainder of the schedule includes a trip to Cornell on Saturday, October 13, where it will face the Big Red, Albany and Vermont, and a trip to Princeton, N.J. on Saturday, October 20. The Orange will be tested in its fall finale as it takes on the host Tigers, North Carolina, Pennsylvania and defending national champion Northwestern.
"Things are going great this fall," Gait said. "The players and I are getting to know one another. I've had a chance to see them on the field and we are looking forward to the season starting."
Syracuse is coming off its most successful season in school history. The Orange posted a 13-6 record, won the inaugural BIG EAST Tournament and defeated Vanderbilt in the first round of the NCAA Tournament before losing to eventual national champion Northwestern in 2007.
