Orange Student-Athletes Participate in Children's Book Week

Orange student-athletes took part in an annual reading event hosted by the SU bookstore on Wednesday, Nov 14. Approximately 60-70 5th graders from Dr. King Elementary School attended this event as part of Children’s Book Week. The student-athletes in attendance, included Pete Rowley (men’s soccer), Jamie Kelling (softball), Tori McKenna (women’s swimming & diving), Kristin Girouard (field hockey), Sharifa Wilkinson (women’s soccer), Mike Brocks (men’s track & field), Maegan Krifchin (women’s track & field).

The participants read passages from selected books and spoke to the kids about the importance of education and the experience of being a student-athlete. They also shared their favorite books and answered children’s questions. This is one of various community events that student-athletes partake in throughout the year.
