ITHACA, N.Y. – Freshman Victor Nwosu and sophomore Uhunoma Osazuwa powered the Syracuse men and women’s track & field team at the season-opening indoor Cornell Relays on Saturday. Nwosu posted a fifth-place finish with a time of 7.03 seconds in the 60m dash, while Osazuwa boasted the top time of 9.00 seconds in the 60m hurdles.
ITHACA, N.Y. – Freshman Victor Nwosu and sophomore Uhunoma Osazuwa powered the Syracuse men and women’s track & field team at the season-opening indoor Cornell Relays on Saturday. Nwosu posted a fifth-place finish with a time of 7.03 seconds in the 60m dash, while Osazuwa boasted the top time of 9.00 seconds in the 60m hurdles.
Nwosu coupled his 60m dash performance with a fifth-place tally in the long jump and an eighth-place finish in the triple jump. Nwosu recorded a 6.84m score in the long jump and a 13.02m total in the triple jump.
Junior Bernard Bush powered the Orange in the long jump with a third-place performance, posting a distance of 6.97m. Sophomore Jon Buice led Syracuse in the triple jump, earning a distance of 13.58m and a fourth-place standing.
Junior Mike Chitro’s time of 8.67 seconds in the 60m hurdles garnered a third-place tally.
Osazuwa paired her 60m hurdles performance with a second-place tally in the long jump, tallying a score of 5.70m. Senior Kaity Lambrecht earned a sixth-place finish in the 60m hurdles with a time of 9.47 seconds.
Freshman LaTimberly Johnson finished ninth in the 60m dash with a time of 8.06 seconds, while senior Keisha Townsend placed 10th with a time of 8.10 seconds. Freshman Samantha Haughton tallied a ninth-place finish in the 300m dash after recording a time of 43.08 seconds.
Sophomore Annabelle Pellerin, also a member of the Orange volleyball team, posted a second-place finish in the high jump with a tally of 1.65m.
Junior Christina Connolly’s fourth-place finish and total of 10.98m powered SU in the triple jump. Junior Kayla Carter posted an eighth-place finish, earning a distance of 10.85m.
The Orange indoor track & field schedule resumes following the mid-semester break with the Syracuse Welcome Back in Manley Field House on Saturday, January 12.
