The swimming and diving team was in competition at the U.S. Swimming Short Course Nationals and at the Nutmeg Invitational. At the Short Course Nationals, members of the Orange joined 1,000 athletes, including 16 Olympians. The competition was the first time that many Olympians, world champions, and record holders gathered at one meet in a yards format. Junior Catrina Roth highlighted the event by setting the Syracuse record in the 100 Back and 200 Back. During day one she swam the event in a school-record time 56.53 and then matched that with a 56.60 performance during day two. She then broke her previous record in the 200 Back (2:02.13.) with a time of 2:01.66. Roth joined sophomore Masha Glukhova, freshman Natalie Mazzetta and freshman Katlin O’Hara to set the school standard in the 400 Medley Relay with a time of 3:51.07. At the Nutmeg Invitational, freshman Stephanie Kuczynski highlighted day one for SU with a third place finish in the 100 Breast with a season-best 1:09.00. During day two, sophomore Moshe Kohen finished third in the 200 Fly with a time of 1:58.70.
