Syracuse women's tennis coach Luke Jensen makes his debut in front of the Orange faithful when Syracuse hosts Buffalo on Friday at 5 p.m. at the Drumlins Tennis Center. Jensen, who was providing analysis for ESPN during the finals of the Australian Open when Syracuse had its home opener two weeks ago, led the Orange to an upset victory against #67 Kansas last Saturday.
National Spotlight
The Orange ranked in the Fila/ITA national poll for the first time since March 28, 2001. Syracuse is tied with Auburn, South Alabama, Indiana State and Nevada for the #75 slot in the poll that was released on February 6.
Lipton Climbs the Charts
Senior Ashley Lipton continues her climb up the SU wins chart. Lipton is currently tied for ninth place on the school's all-time wins list with 135 career victories. She is one win shy of tying Kathy Bradford for eighth place. Lipton is 3-0 in singles play and 1-2 in doubles action this year.
Best of the Best
Junior Olga Votavova has proved that she should be grouped with the best players in the nation. In her first season of collegiate tennis, Votavova is ranked #28 in the East Region after posting an 8-6 singles record in the fall. Votavova has faced two nationally ranked players and one regionally ranked player.
