
Nichols, Devendorf Earn NABC Recognition

KANSAS CITY, MO -- The National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) announced the NCAA Division I All-District Teams, voted on by member coaches. Syracuse's Demetris Nichols, a senior forward, was a first-team pick while sophomore guard Eric Devendorf earned second-team honors. The 150 student-athletes, from 15 districts, are now eligible for the NABC Division I All-America teams that will be announced at the conclusion of the college basketball regular season.
Nichols and Devendorf have helped Syracuse to a 21-8 overall record with one contest remaining in the regular season. Nichols is averaging a squad-best 19.0 points and 5.6 rebounds an outing. His 80 three-point baskets lead the team and he owns a squad-best .876 free-throw percentage and 1.5 steals average. Nichols has scored in double digits in 26-of-29 games this season, has toped 20 points 14 times and owns two outings over 30 points.
Devendorf ranks second on the Orange in scoring with a 13.1 mark. He's averaging 4.2 assists per gme and 1.2 steals. Devendorf has posted double-figure scoring 21 times and has three 20-plus point outings in 2006-07.
The Orange play at Villanova on March 3 at 2:00 p.m. to close out the regular campaign. The BIG EAST Conference Tournament begins in New York's Madison Square Garden on Wednesday, March 7.
