PARDEE-HILL AND ROWAN EARN BIG EAST HONORS
Sophomores Amber Pardee-Hill and Katie Rowan had impressive weeks for the Orange against Albany and ninth-ranked Virginia. For their performances, Pardee-Hill earned BIG EAST Defensive Player of the Week accolades and Rowan was named to the BIG EAST Honor Roll.
Pardee-Hill posted a save percentage of .579 and a goals against average of 8.00 in SU’s two games. Against the Great Danes, she made nine saves and allowed only six goals to earn her first collegiate victory. Against the ninth-ranked Cavaliers, Pardee-Hill stopped a career-best 13 Virginia shots. She also scooped up five ground balls during the week. Pardee-Hill currently leads the BIG EAST with 10.67 saves per game.
Rowan led Syracuse’s offensive unit against the Great Danes and Cavaliers. Rowan totaled nine points on six goals and three assists against the two opponents. Against Albany, she scored three goals and added one assist. Rowan led the Orange with five points on three goals and two assists against the ninth-ranked Cavaliers.
NEW YORK STATE OF MIND
The Orange has dominated play against schools from New York State since its arrival on the women’s lacrosse scene. After Syracuse’s 19-6 victory against Albany, the Orange owns a 22-5 all-time record against in-state schools (.815 winning percentage) with all five losses coming to Cornell. Syracuse has never lost to a school from New York at the Carrier Dome, winning all 16 games.
DOMEINATION
Many teams enter the Carrier Dome but very few can claim to leave the Loud House as a winner. Syracuse owns an all-time record of 56-16 (.777 winning percentage) at the Carrier Dome. This season, SU is 1-1 in home games, defeating Albany, 19-6, before losing to No. 9 Virginia, 10-8. Last season, the Orange won 8 of 11 games contested in the Dome, including two against ranked opponents.
SYRACUSE – BINGHAMTON SERIES
The 2007 meeting is the third-consecutive year that the Orange and Bearcats will meet in women’s lacrosse. The Orange has won both of the previous two meetings by 19 goals, 20-1 in 2005 and 21-2 last season.
SCOUTING THE BEARCATS
The Bearcats lost its only game of the 2007 season. Binghamton scored the first three goals of the game before Sacred Heart rallied off seven-consecutive goals. Binghamton fought back and scored the next five goals to claim an 8-7 advantage but the Pioneers scored three of the final four games, including the game winner with 3:02 remaining.
Senior Danielle Edwards led the Bearcats with three goals, while freshman Liz Wright added three points on two goals and one assist. Senior Heather Grose also posted two goals for Binghamton.
Junior goalkeeper Sandra Alvarez allowed 10 goals in the cage while stopping 11 Sacred Heart shots.
